2) Cricket Country Kitchen

Quaint and quirky, many consider Cricket Country Kitchen to be one of the best breakfast restaurants in Sacramento. The cafe is famous for its home-style fare and Americana decor. They even have a train going around the ceiling for a nice touch.

Highly recommended are the biscuits and gravy, as well as the sourdough toast and Smuckers jams.

3) Tugboat Fish & Chips #8

How can you go wrong with good ol’ fish and chips? Tugboat Fish & Chips #8 is right down Walerga Road #111, and seems to be the place for just that. 

Everybody seems to love the Atlantic Cod, and the accompanying tartar sauce is just as noteworthy. They make all sauces on site, and if you’d want a bit of soup, you also might want to have some of their chowder.

4) Four Sisters Cafe

Now, you might have to queue up a bit to get in, but guests swear that jt’s all worth the wait. With a spacious bar and a contemporary counter-and-booth setup, Four Sisters Cafe serves Classic American breakfast & lunch favorites such as pancakes, french toast, corned beef hash, and breakfast burritos, among many others.

“Menu offers a great variety of breakfast items, fast service, excellent food! We ordered the croissant french toast covered with banana and mango and the Classic French toast this time.  The Belgian waffle is also a favorite. You just can’t get a bad meal here.”

Colorful and creative, yet pleasantly laid-back, Flip.n.Shake makes some incredibly clever burgers, and serves an interesting variety of sides and milk shakes. The fries alone are highly recommended, and you can even have fancier variants like bacon cheddar fries or deep-fried zucchini fries. 

“Perfect afternoon! I’ve been on a quest to try the veggie burgers from burger places, and so far this tops the list. The avocado and cilantro took it to the next level for me. But honestly, it’s the fries that will bring me back. They were SO good! Thick but not dry, with a perfect melt-in-your-mouth crisp. In addition to great food, the service was speedy and pleasant, the restaurant was cute and clean, and the music created a fun and retro atmosphere.”
